Rancakmedia.com – Apple officially revealed iOS 16 at WWDC 2022, and showed off a number of improvements and new features the company is bringing to this operating system for iPhone. In the fall, Apple mobile devices, from the iPhone 8 to the latest version, will be able to run iOS 16.
The iPhone 14 will be released in September 2022, which is when iOS 16 is expected to debut.
“IOS 16 offers a variety of new features, customization possibilities, and, of course, a redesigned lock screen appearance,” said Apple Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi.
List of New Apple iOS 16 Features
The following is a list of iOS 16 features released by Apple:
Lock Screen
In iOS 16, users can now change the font and color used on the lock screen. Additional features include the ability to add widgets and the ability to install multiple lock screens simultaneously.
iOS users can now customize the appearance of their lock screen by simply swiping their finger over the screen.
To make it easier for consumers to customize the appearance of the lock screen, Apple has also provided various wallpapers to use.
Notifications
Notifications on the lock screen, which previously appeared stacked high on the screen, are also being redesigned by the company and will now “scroll” to the bottom of the screen.
Not only that, Apple has also included a "live activities" feature which will display alerts connected to the application, such as match scores and rides using Uber.
Live Text iOS 16
The Live Text tool can now be used to identify text in videos as well as photos. Apple claims that a variety of additional options will be available when customers use Live Caption in images or videos.
Cupertino-based iCloud has also introduced shared image libraries, making it easier for customers to exchange photos with their friends and loved ones. All iPhone, iPad, and Mac users will have access to photo sharing and editing ideas.
New Messages Features iOS 16
Messages, Apple's default messaging app, has also been completely redesigned. Messages can now be edited or deleted after sending in iOS 16.
Users can now use the SharePlay function in the Messages app. Additionally, Apple has now introduced a dictation tool to the Messages app.
Safety Check
Safety Check, a new feature in iOS 16, is designed to help protect people who are victims of violence.
When this option is selected, individuals can remove access to previously disclosed information, such as their current location.
Focus Mode
Focus Mode can now be activated by simply swiping sideways from the lock screen. You can also rearrange widgets in Focus Mode.
iOS 16 also allows users to filter tabs, accounts, emails, and features from apps like Calendar, Mail, Messages, and Safari. As a result, this concentration mode can be adapted to specific fillers, such as Messages.
New Mail Features
New features in Apple email include scheduling emails, canceling emails, reminders if you forget to add an attachment, and bringing back previous messages with Remind Later and Follow Up recommendations.
Search in the Mail app has also been improved by Apple and now returns emails from the last few days as well as contacts, documents and links.
Dictation, Live Text, Visual Look Up
The word dictation experience in iOS 16 has been improved by Apple. This new update allows users to dictate text while keeping their keyboard open to add specific words or punctuation.
Live Caption now allows viewers to pause the film and copy subtitles. Apple is also bringing Live Sentence with subtitles, meaning users can directly translate text from their camera.
With iOS 16, users can now use the iPhone camera to take pictures and convert them into money.
New features have been added to Visual Look Up to make it more useful. To transfer files to another app, such as Messages, hold down the shift key while tapping a topic.
In addition to plants and pets, this function can now recognize birds, insects and statues.
New iOS 16 Wallet Features
The wallet will offer key and ID sharing capabilities so users can share IDs for identification or age verification reasons, for example.
Apple also makes it possible to pay later. It can be used anywhere that accepts Apple Pay, either online or in-app and utilizes the MasterCard network.
Apple Maps
This map made by Apple will support 11 more countries such as Belgium, France, Israel, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Belkamu, New Zealand, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Switzerland.
Maps offers a stop function to add up to 15 stops to each route. Other transit-related improvements include the ability to pay for public transportation using Apple Wallet and the ability to use transit cards on the platform.
AppleNews
Apple News is now introducing Sports pages for customers in the UK, US, Canada and Australia. With it, users can monitor the progress of their favorite clubs and leagues, overall scores, schedules and standings.
Parental Control
Parents will be urged to limit age-appropriate platforms such as apps, movies, books and music.
Kids can also request extra device time via Messages directly from their parents. However, this request may be denied or authorized.
Share Photos in iCloud
iCloud Shared Photo Library is coming to iOS 16 allowing users to share photos with up to five other accounts. Photos can also be sorted by date or specific photo.
