BlackBerry Stopped Operations Since January 4th

After that date, all phones and tablets running BlackBerry OS services can no longer be used.

BlackBerry has extended support for its outdated operating system several times, but finally the end of their existence has been announced.

Through material on its website, BlackBerry has set a timeline, January 4, 2022 to be precise.

With the death of Blackberry 7.1, BlackBerry 10, and Blackberry Playbook OS 2.1, BlackBerry's three older operating systems will be retired as of this date.

"Devices running this operating system (OS) will cease to function after January 4, 2022. Because we value our business partners and long-term clients, we have extended our services to that date," wrote BlackBerry.

The effect of this service termination has affected several applications such as the popular messaging application BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), email addresses hosted by BlackBerry, BlackBerry Link, BlackBerry Desktop Manager, BlackBerry Blend, and BlackBerry Protect.

Reasons BlackBerry Stopped Operating

BlackBerry stopped offering this service as their emphasis has shifted to providing intelligent security services to meet the needs of businesses and governments around the world.

Applications that continue to work and can be accessed on platforms other than BlackBerry OS include the BBM Enterprise instant messaging application and BBM Enterprise for Individual Use (BBMe).

BlackBerry Stopped Operating No Longer used

Meanwhile, Blackberry stated that the termination of support for legacy services has no impact on Blackberry phones running the Android operating system. After January 4, 2022, the following gadgets can no longer be used.
