In his presentation, the Head of National Library of Indonesia stated that the results of the assessment of the readability level of Indonesian citizens reached 55.74 % in 2020 and 53.84 % in 2019. This is counted in the medium group with reading frequency 4 times a week, reading time 1 hour 36 minutes / day and a total of 2 books per quarter. At that time, the commune's readability score was predicted to reach 63.3 in 2022.

He said that Indonesia's literacy perspective is still in the "moderate" group because of the low strength of connecting information related to ICT, the lack of availability and access to quality information.

"Therefore, the solution is to increase access to information, strengthen the information infrastructure and strengthen the information framework. This will lead to an even distribution of information and increased literacy which will affect welfare," said Syarif Bando.

Regional Libraries Improvements

According to Syarif Bundo, because of that national library requires regulations and alignment of the development of central and regional libraries to realize changes in literacy and readability of citizens.

He hopes that "the sign is an increase in the value of citizens' reading options with a target of 71.3 % in 2024 and the value of the citizen's literacy index to 15 % in 2024."
