Let's find out how to avoid progressive tax on motorized vehicles – Several regions in Indonesia have applied regulations regarding progressive tax on motor vehicles. This method is an effort to suppress the number of vehicles in the area and prevent road congestion.
The progressive tax fee is a multilevel tax that is borne by residents who have more than one motor vehicle of the same type. For example, if you have two or more cars or motorcycles, you will be subject to multilevel tax when paying the tax.
Many areas have implemented this provision, such as DKI Jakarta, the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Central Java (Central Java), East Java (East Java), West Java (West Java) and several other provinces.
Therefore, residents who do not want to be subject to progressive taxes can take anticipatory measures such as blocking their vehicle registration certificate (STNK) when they have sold their vehicle.
Public Relations of the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) Herlina Ayu explained, the implementation of progressive taxes in DKI Jakarta is regulated in DKI Jakarta Provincial Regulation (Perda) Number 2 of 2015 concerning Amendments to Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2010 concerning Motor Vehicle Tax.
Regarding the amount, as follows;
- The tax rate for the first vehicle is 2 %
- The tax rate for the second vehicle is 2.5 %
- The 3rd vehicle has a tax rate of 3 %
- The tax rate for the 4th vehicle is 3.5 %
- The 5th vehicle has a tax rate of 4 %
- The sixth vehicle is taxable at 4.5 %
- The 7th vehicle has a tax rate of 5 %,
- So on up to the 17th possession with a tax of 10 %.
"Progressive tax applies to the 2nd vehicle and so on with an increase of 0.5 %,".
For this reason, Herlina also advised people who have sold their vehicles to immediately block their STNK.
Thus, the owner of the vehicle will not be subject to a progressive tax if he buys a new vehicle later.
“Every time a vehicle is sold, the STNK is immediately blocked. So, when you want to buy a new vehicle of the same type, the vehicle owner is not subject to a progressive tax," he said.
