Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya announced that President Prabowo Subianto’s official state visit to France on Thursday, May 28, successfully secured four new commercial agreements. These deals are strategically focused on bolstering energy security, expanding bilateral trade, and deepening defense cooperation.
According to Teddy, these outcomes represent the concrete results of the high-level meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris. “During the state visit, four new commercial agreements were reached, specifically targeting the sectors of energy security, trade, and defense cooperation,” Teddy stated on Friday, May 29.
Beyond the formal agreements, both leaders participated in the launch of the France-Indonesia High Level Business Council. This initiative, spearheaded by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and MEDEF International, serves as a pivotal platform for strengthening economic ties. The forum brought together 30 prominent industry leaders and executives from both nations, representing a combined market capitalization of 1.3 trillion US dollars.
This council is expected to serve as a vital mechanism for fostering investment and overseeing the implementation of various memoranda of understanding (MoUs) previously established between the two countries. This follows a significant milestone from President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Indonesia in May 2025, during which 27 MoUs worth over 11 billion US dollars were signed.
The visit was marked by a series of grand diplomatic ceremonies, underscoring the strength of the bilateral relationship. President Prabowo received a warm official welcome, including a formal ceremony at Les Invalides, Paris, and an appearance by French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu. Following the initial protocols, President Prabowo traveled to the Élysée Palace escorted by a guard of honor consisting of 146 cavalry troops and 27 motorcycle personnel, where he was received by President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron.
Teddy emphasized that the honor bestowed upon the Indonesian delegation throughout the state visit reflects the deep and enduring partnership between Indonesia and France, setting a positive trajectory for future diplomatic and economic collaboration.
