Rancak Media – Marc Marquez must exercise extreme caution during his recovery from a right shoulder injury. Dr. Angel Charte, MotoGP’s Medical Director, has issued a stark warning, stating that Marquez could ‘jeopardize his career’ if he pushes himself to race before achieving full recovery.
“This is a serious injury, especially as he has already undergone four previous arm surgeries. He must only return when he is 100 percent fit,” Charte emphasized to Diario AS. Psychologically, Charte noted Marquez is in good spirits, having ‘completed his mission’ of securing multiple MotoGP world titles. However, the medical director cautioned that “a premature return would be futile and carry significant risks.”
Marquez underwent successful surgery approximately one week after his fall at the Indonesian Grand Prix on October 5th. Despite the surgery’s success, Marquez is confirmed to miss the final two MotoGP rounds of the season in Portugal and Valencia. His spot will be filled by recent World Superbike runner-up, Nicolo Bulega. Prior to this, Michele Pirro had deputized for Marquez in Australia and Malaysia.
Ducati’s Strategy Shift
Marquez’s accident at Indonesia’s Mandalika Circuit has also necessitated a significant adjustment to Ducati’s plans. Gigi Dall’Igna, General Manager of Ducati Corse, revealed that the team has been forced to postpone development of the GP25 motorcycle, originally slated for testing in the season’s concluding races.
“Before Marc’s crash, we had intended to test several new components during the final races of the season. Unfortunately, that is no longer possible. This is the primary issue stemming from this incident,” Dall’Igna explained to MotoGP.com.
Nevertheless, Dall’Igna acknowledged the inherent risks of racing, stating that such incidents can occur at any time. The 59-year-old subsequently offered high praise for Marquez, highlighting his arduous journey through a challenging season before ultimately clinching a title with Ducati.
“Marc is truly extraordinary; he embodies a life lesson,” Dall’Igna remarked admiringly. “He has sacrificed so much—money, the spotlight, everything—to return to championship contention. Working with Marc is remarkably straightforward; his technical feedback is consistently precise and easily digestible. He is a leader who effectively guides the team, making everything feel effortless.”
