Realme Announces Will Sell Expensive Cellphones and Enter the High-end Segment

Rancakmedia.com – Previously, Realme was characterized as a brand selling “cheap” smartphones in the entry-level to mid-range segment, and now Realme has announced that it will sell expensive phones and enter the high-end segment.

The brand, which was previously a sub-brand of Oppo, seems to be aiming to move up into higher segments as the name becomes more popular. Sky Li, CEO of Realme, has announced that the company will sell “expensive” smartphones aimed at the ultra-premium segment.

Li announced this on his personal Twitter account. “Realme has officially gone to the next level in the market with a smartphone that costs more than $800. (approximately IDR 11.4 million). What do you want to get from a real flagship Realme phone?” Li uses realme's @skyli handle to express himself.

As a result, Realme is set to take on Samsung, Apple, and Google, all of which have significant histories in this segment.

Realme GT Neo 2

However, no Realme smartphones have been sold at this price on the market yet. According to Rancakmedia from Gizmo China, Wednesday (17/11/2021), GT Neo 2 is the most expensive Realme smartphone to date. It was also released in Indonesia in early November.

Realme GT Neo 2, which is dubbed the "flagship killer" in Indonesia, is priced at Rp. 6.5 million. As a result, a premium Realme phone will cost twice as much as the GT Neo 2.

Sky Li did not provide any additional information about the company's ultra-premium offering. The phone model and when it will be released is not yet known. Realme is also still tight-lipped about what features or technology it will include on its high-end smartphones in the future.

However, it is possible that this flagship Realme smartphone will focus on the photography sector, with a larger sensor.

Realme can also provide more optimized software with up to four years of support. Another wild rumor is that the premium Realme smartphone will be equipped with a QHD Plus resolution screen with high refresh rate support in the future.

The most powerful processor will be chosen, such as the Snapdragon system on chips in the “800” series. Realme may potentially offer fast charging capabilities and large capacity mobile batteries.

Everything is still conjecture at this point. Realme's flagship smartphone is expected to launch next year, according to reports.
