How to Overcome Phishing Via Email on Facebook and Instagram

How to Overcome Phishing Via Email on Facebook and Instagram – Social media such as Facebook and Instagram are prone to digital crimes. Some users often receive messages in the form of e-mails from someone who claims to be from the Facebook faction – a mode that is none other than a form of cyber phishing crime.

Generally, several phishing messages ask for important user data, such as account names or passwords. In fact, some of the e-mails also gave threats that their accounts would be deleted if they didn't follow their instructions.

Users are definitely asked to be alert with risky messages that are claimed to be from this Facebook or Instagram party. Because, it could be that the e-mail is a phishing attack or a scam to obtain individual user information.

“Phising is a form of cyber attack, namely when someone pretends to be someone, and attempts to deceive, until the victim provides individual information,” Facebook noted in a journalist broadcast received, Monday (15/2/2021).

In this case, fraudsters will generally provide an email that appears to originate from Facebook or Instagram by including symbols. Finally, some users will find it difficult to recognize whether the e-mail is real or fake.

To overcome this, Facebook has provided preventive measures to avoid phishing attempts. Here's how.

  1. Open Open application Facebook on mobile
  2. Click the triple strip icon at the bottom right of the Facebook app
  3. Select Settings & Privacy > Settings > Security and Login

In this menu, Facebook will display recent emails about account security, such as requests to change passwords in the last two weeks on the Security tab.

Instagram
