PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) has once again fortified its position as one of Indonesia’s leading companies in corporate governance, earning the prestigious “Highly Trusted” predicate at the Indonesia Trusted Companies 2025 awards, based on the Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI) 2024. This significant accolade underscores BRI’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of corporate integrity and transparency.
The award was conferred by The Indonesian Institute for Corporate Governance (IICG) in collaboration with SWA Magazine. It serves as a testament to the company’s consistent and comprehensive application of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles, which are fundamental to its operational excellence and long-term sustainability. This recognition highlights BRI’s dedication to responsible business practices across all its activities.
This year, BRI stood out as one of only 25 companies to achieve the highest category score, affirming its robust governance quality that aligns with global industry best practices. This achievement is particularly relevant given the prevailing global economic landscape, which is marked by challenging growth forecasts and geopolitical tensions that contribute to significant market uncertainty. In such an environment, strong corporate governance serves as a crucial foundation, enabling companies to maintain resilience while simultaneously driving sustainable growth.
A. Solichin Lutfiyanto, Director of Human Capital & Compliance at BRI, emphasized that this award is a direct reflection of the commitment of every individual within BRI to maintain exceptional governance standards. He stated, “The ‘Highly Trusted’ predicate in CGPI 2024 is the result of the diligent efforts of all our ‘Insan BRILian’ (BRI people) who consistently uphold the values of integrity and GCG principles in every operational activity. For us, corporate governance is not merely about compliance; it is a vital foundation for ensuring business sustainability and creating added value for all stakeholders.”
Mr. Solichin further elaborated on BRI’s strategic foresight, adding that the bank is continuously strengthening its organizational capabilities to navigate increasingly complex future challenges. He acknowledged, “The current business context is evolving rapidly and is rife with uncertainty. Therefore, BRI is dedicated to enhancing its dynamic capabilities and fostering an adaptive corporate culture. This approach enables us to proactively identify new opportunities, drive innovation, and sustain our competitive edge. The robust implementation of GCG is key to ensuring that every step we take is ethical, measurable, and responsible.”
The CGPI program for this year adopted the theme “Building Dynamic Company Capabilities within a GCG Framework,” which critically emphasizes the importance of adaptive corporate capabilities. This focus is essential for companies to effectively respond to the accelerating, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) nature of the modern business environment. Amidst the challenges posed by the VUCA era, technological disruption, and global dynamics, companies are not just expected to be responsive but also proactive in managing resources, identifying strategic opportunities, and building sustainable competitive advantages.
The Indonesia Trusted Companies 2025 event saw participation from 52 companies representing various sectors, categorized into seven industry groups. All participants underwent a rigorous assessment process, which included self-assessment, comprehensive document evaluation, and direct observation involving Directors, Boards of Commissioners, as well as internal and external stakeholders. The evaluation focused on three primary aspects: governance structure, governance process, and governance outcomes, with their respective weights determined by a panel of experts using the Analytical Network Process (ANP) method. Participants’ final scores were then grouped into three categories: Highly Trusted, Trusted, and Fairly Trusted.
This remarkable achievement profoundly reflects BRI’s unwavering commitment to championing transparency, accountability, integrity, and prudence in every decision-making process and business operation. Through its strong corporate governance framework, BRI consistently ensures sustained performance and continually strengthens the trust of its shareholders, regulators, and the wider public, reaffirming its dedication to ethical leadership and enduring value creation.
