Prabowo Terima Konglomerat Rusia Sistema Group, Bahas Kerja Sama Industri Kapal

President Prabowo Subianto recently hosted a significant meeting with senior executives from the prominent Russian conglomerate, Sistema Group, at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, November 20. This high-level gathering underscores Indonesia’s commitment to fostering international partnerships, particularly with key global players.

The discussions during the meeting spanned a wide array of strategic cooperation plans aimed at bolstering ties across several crucial sectors. Key areas included enhancing collaboration in healthcare, education, the hospitality business, and the innovative development of the electric ship industry. This engagement serves as a direct follow-up to earlier dialogues held between the Indonesian government and Sistema in St. Petersburg in the middle of this year, as confirmed by Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani, who was also present alongside Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov.

Highlighting the stature of the Russian delegation, Rosan noted in a press statement, “The CEO and owner of Sistema, one of the largest conglomerates in Russia, both attended, along with their group directors.” He further elaborated that Sistema expressed keen interest in developing a passenger electric ship industry with capacities ranging from 100 to 200 people. Rosan emphasized Sistema’s standing as a major player in Russia’s shipbuilding sector, adding, “Discussions have already commenced, and they plan to establish their manufacturing facilities here in Indonesia.”

A primary focus of the meeting was cooperation within the vital healthcare sector. Sistema boasts an extensive portfolio, currently managing over 160 hospitals in Russia, and stands as a leading producer of patents and medicines in the country. This profound experience makes them an ideal partner for strengthening Indonesia’s healthcare infrastructure and pharmaceutical capabilities.

Rosan revealed that Sistema has already initiated preliminary talks with Indonesian state-owned enterprises (SOEs) Bio Farma and Kimia Farma in Bandung. “Regarding potential cooperation with Bio Farma and Kimia Farma, meetings have already taken place in Bandung, and now the follow-up process will continue,” he stated. These partnership projects with national pharmaceutical SOEs are currently entering an accelerated phase for crucial licensing processes and technical follow-ups, including coordination with the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

Beyond healthcare and maritime, Sistema’s diverse portfolio also extends to the hospitality sector. According to Rosan, the group expressed significant interest in managing potential hotels across Indonesia, indicating a desire to contribute to the nation’s tourism growth. Additionally, the Russian firm presented an opportunity for educational collaboration, offering to send Russian language instructors to Indonesian universities that host Russian language programs, fostering cultural and academic exchange.

Despite the broad scope of sectors discussed and the promising avenues explored, Rosan underscored that all these potential collaborations remain in their initial exploratory stage. This emphasizes a cautious yet optimistic approach as both parties continue to assess and refine the framework for future strategic partnerships between Indonesia and the Sistema Group.
