BI Boosts SMEs: Supports Artcofest & Malang Fashion Week!

Rancak Media MALANG — The Bank Indonesia (BI) Malang Representative Office is actively championing the advancement of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) within its operational region. This commitment is vividly demonstrated through its robust support for key events such as Artcofest, scheduled for Monday, November 3, 2025, and the Malang Fashion Week (MFW), set to kick off on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

Dedy Prasetyo, Deputy Head of the BI Malang Representative Office, underscored BI Malang’s dedication to fostering sustainable economic growth. This aligns directly with Bank Indonesia’s mandate, as outlined in the Law on Financial Sector Development and Strengthening (UU P2SK). “Bank Indonesia supports sustainable economic growth by maintaining rupiah stability, preserving the stability of the Payment System (SP), and contributing to the stability of the Financial System (SSK),” Dedy stated on Thursday, October 30, 2025, emphasizing the broad scope of their mission.

A crucial pillar in achieving regional sustainable economic growth, according to Dedy, is the development of the creative economy, with the fashion industry playing a particularly vital role. BI Malang’s support for Malang Fashion Week (MFW) stems from its comprehensive efforts to enhance MSME quality, broaden market access, increase access to financing for MSMEs, and promote financial inclusion literacy.

“Bank Indonesia has consistently partnered with IFC Malang in developing MFW, and 2025 marks the eighth consecutive year of the MFW’s organization,” Dedy elaborated. The Malang Fashion Week 2025, under the compelling theme “Vectra,” promises to herald a new era in fashion, innovatively exploring AI-Generated Design as an evolution and manifestation of the dynamic fashion industry.

This year’s MFW, expected to run until November 9th, is projected to attract a significant audience, with an estimated 2,750 visitors per day, totaling 11,000 attendees over its four-day span. The economic ripple effect is substantial, with an estimated turnover reaching Rp8 billion, mirroring the success of MFW 2024 across diverse sectors including fashion, culinary arts, accommodation, hotels, and tourism. The event’s rich agenda includes a Trend Forecasting Seminar, Fashion Design & Modelling Competition, Trunk Show Road to MFW, MSME x Designer Collaboration, Fashion Talks & Sharing Session with Guest Designers, a Fashion Exhibition & Installation, culminating in the Grand Show Malang Fashion Week 2025.

Beyond the vibrant world of fashion, BI Malang’s commitment extends to nurturing the local coffee sector. Dedy highlighted BI Malang’s comprehensive programs aimed at boosting export-oriented coffee MSMEs and farmer groups. These initiatives encompass intensive capacity building, improvements in production and post-harvest quality – often through direct aid for facilities and infrastructure – and the critical opening of export market access. Furthermore, BI Malang facilitates business-matching through financing collaborations with banks and potential buyers, and actively develops coffee clusters, enhancing their value addition through participation in various coffee exhibitions such as JCFF and Artcofest. Through these multifaceted efforts, BI Malang continues to drive robust and inclusive economic development across its region.
