Kargo Technologies, a pioneering logistics technology company based in Southeast Asia, has unveiled an ambitious electric vehicle (EV)-based logistics partnership program this week. This groundbreaking initiative sets aggressive targets, aiming to deploy 500 EVs by 2025, escalate to 2,500 EVs by 2026, and achieve a long-term vision of electrifying 40,000 vehicles by 2035.
This strategic endeavor extends beyond merely accelerating the transition towards a green supply chain in Indonesia. It also seeks to lay the groundwork for the “Electrified Silk Road,” a sophisticated AI-powered logistics network designed to seamlessly connect Southeast Asia, China, and the Middle East, fostering a new era of regional trade and efficiency.
“Electric vehicles enable us to perceive logistics not merely as the movement of goods, but as an integrated system that can be meticulously analyzed, measured, and continuously enhanced,” stated Tiger Fang, CEO and Founder of Kargo Technologies, in an official announcement on Friday (5/12). This perspective underscores the company’s commitment to leveraging technology for smarter, more sustainable operations.
The launch of this program marks a pivotal new phase in Kargo’s strategy, directly addressing the escalating demand for logistics services that are cleaner, significantly more efficient, and deeply integrated through digital solutions. It represents a forward-thinking move to redefine the standards of modern logistics.
The urgency for adopting low-emission transportation modes in Indonesia is further bolstered by governmental mandates, specifically referenced in Energy and Mineral Resources Ministerial Regulation (Permen ESDM) 10/2025 and Presidential Regulation (Perpres) 112/2022. These regulations provide a clear framework, reinforcing the necessity of such green initiatives.
“The government has charted a clear course for energy transition, but it is incumbent upon the private sector to translate these directives into tangible projects, real fleets, and concrete job creation,” affirmed Anindya Bakrie, Chairman of KADIN Indonesia (Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), highlighting the crucial role of private enterprise.
Collaboration with Partners
Kargo is actively collaborating with several prominent clients, including SPX, Astro, Teleport, and Modena, to begin migrating portions of their existing logistics networks to an electric fleet. This move aligns perfectly with the company’s comprehensive 2035 electrification roadmap, showcasing a collective commitment to sustainability.
These partners are progressively integrating specific routes with Kargo’s EV fleet, ensuring their commercial growth aligns seamlessly with their decarbonization targets. As the electric fleet expands, this transition is anticipated to yield significant improvements in emission performance, substantially reduce operational costs, and enhance the overall reliability of deliveries across the network.
