A massive tree collapse in South Jakarta has severely impacted MRT and Transjakarta services today, causing major disruptions for commuters. Local residents attested to the tree’s venerable age, claiming it had stood for more than a century.

Despite the widespread impact of the incident, which included a shattered car window and necessitated a complete road closure, authorities confirmed there were no fatalities. A total of 30 joint officers were promptly deployed to manage the evacuation and cleanup efforts. The Directorate of Traffic Police (Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya) specifically verified the absence of casualties on Jalan Sisingamangaraja.
“Only material damage occurred. The tree fell on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ fence and part of the MRT construction roof,” stated Kompol Robby Hefadus, Head of Operations Division, Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya, detailing the extent of the damage.
Responding to the unfolding situation, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) urged all passengers to remain calm amidst the disruption.
“We appeal to all customers to remain calm and follow directions from officers on the ground,” reiterated Rendy Primartantyo, emphasizing passenger safety as the paramount concern.
