President Prabowo Subianto has been honored with a prestigious award from King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan. The award ceremony took place during the Jordanian monarch’s state visit to Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday (November 14).
The honor, specifically the Bejeweled Grand Cordon of Al-Nahda, was personally bestowed upon President Prabowo by King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein. This distinguished award is presented as a sash adorned with a large, jewel-encrusted badge. The presentation ceremony followed a significant bilateral meeting between the two heads of state, underscoring the diplomatic significance of the occasion.
According to Foreign Minister Sugiono, the accolade received by President Prabowo represents the highest order of honor conferred by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
This esteemed decoration is typically reserved for an exclusive group, including heads of state, commanders of armed forces, prominent figures from the Arab world, and foreign nationals who have made significant meritorious contributions at both regional and international levels. This highlights the exceptional recognition of President Prabowo’s service and influence.
“I believe it is also a source of pride for us that our President has received this,” remarked Minister Sugiono, speaking after the bilateral meeting concluded.
King Abdullah II’s visit unfolded in a remarkably cordial atmosphere, reflecting deep personal ties. During the opening of the bilateral meeting, King Abdullah warmly addressed President Prabowo with the affectionate greeting, “My Dear Friend, My Dear Brother.”
King Abdullah II further elaborated on their enduring bond, revealing that his relationship with President Prabowo has spanned over 28 years. He also shared that his late father, King Hussein, similarly maintained a close relationship with Prabowo, highlighting a legacy of friendship between their families.
“We have been friends for a long time. We have become brothers,” King Abdullah stated, adding, “And I will always tell my father about this very special friendship.” This heartfelt sentiment underscored the profound personal connection beyond official diplomatic relations.
