Budget Allocation for Free Nutritious Meals Reaches IDR 41.3 Trillion: Ministry of Finance Data

Rancak Media – The Indonesian Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) has announced a significant milestone in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, with budget realization reaching IDR 41.3 trillion by November 18, 2025. This impressive figure represents 58 percent of the total 2025 budget ceiling, which stands at IDR 71 trillion.

Deputy Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, elaborated on this achievement during the APBN KiTA November 2025 press conference in Jakarta on Thursday (20/11). He highlighted that with the current realization, the MBG program, managed by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), still has IDR 30 trillion available to cover the program’s needs for November and December 2025. “The budget realization for MBG has reached IDR 41.3 trillion, which means approximately 58 percent of the State Budget allocation of IDR 71 trillion has been disbursed. This leaves an allocation of IDR 30 trillion available for the Free Nutritious Meal program through November and December,” Suahasil stated.

Delving deeper into the program’s impact, Suahasil also detailed the extensive reach of the initiative. Through the realized budget, the government has successfully provided free nutritious meals to approximately 41.9 million people across Indonesia. This vital service is facilitated through a robust network of 15,369 Service Units for Nutrition Fulfillment (SPPG) strategically located nationwide.

Beyond its direct nutritional benefits, the MBG program has also made a significant contribution to employment. As of November 14, 2025, the program has generated employment for 556,735 individuals, underscoring its broader economic impact. Looking ahead, the target for MBG program beneficiaries by the end of 2025 is set at an ambitious 82.9 million people. “Naturally, our allocations are adjusted to meet the President’s target of 82.9 million free nutritious meal recipients across Indonesia,” Suahasil affirmed, emphasizing the national commitment to this crucial initiative.

The Deputy Minister further noted that the MBG program has successfully expanded its reach to cover all corners of Indonesia. Its widespread implementation includes provinces across Maluku, Papua, Sulawesi, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Java, Kalimantan, and Sumatera, ensuring that nutritious meals reach communities in diverse geographical locations.

A detailed regional breakdown reveals the areas with the highest concentration of MBG beneficiaries. Java Island leads the distribution with an impressive 25.68 million recipients supported by 9,107 SPPG units. Following closely is Sumatera Island, serving 8.6 million people through 3,142 SPPG units.

The program’s reach extends further to Sulawesi, benefiting 2.74 million individuals through 1,069 SPPG units, and the Bali-Nusa Tenggara region, which serves 2.15 million recipients with 753 SPPG units. Completing the geographical overview, Kalimantan accounts for 1.7 million MBG beneficiaries supported by 703 SPPG units, while the Maluku-Papua region provides free nutritious meals to 0.69 million people via 265 SPPG units. This extensive network demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving public health and nutrition nationwide.
