Meta is rolling out a new suite of subscription tiers for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, introducing premium features that distinguish themselves from the platform’s traditional free experience. These new offerings, branded as Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus, are priced at US$ 3.99 (approximately Rp 71,102) per month, while WhatsApp Plus is available for US$ 2.99 (approximately Rp 53,282) per month.
According to Naomi Gleit, Meta’s Head of Product, these subscriptions are designed to provide enhanced customization, advanced analytics, and exclusive engagement tools. Importantly, these new tiers are separate from Meta Verified, which will continue to focus specifically on account authentication, impersonation protection, and dedicated support.
Subscribers to Instagram Plus will gain access to a variety of power-user features. These include the ability to track how many times a Story has been rewatched, the creation of unlimited audience lists beyond the standard “Close Friends” option, and the ability to preview Stories without appearing on the viewer list. Furthermore, users can extend Story durations beyond 24 hours, highlight Stories for increased reach, and search through Story viewer lists. Additional aesthetic and functional upgrades include animated Super Heart reactions, custom app icons, personalized bio fonts, and expanded profile pinning options. These tools are tailored for creators and heavy users looking to better understand and grow their audience.
While Facebook Plus offers a similar array of engagement-focused tools, WhatsApp Plus caters to personal customization, introducing features like unique app themes, custom ringtones, additional pinned chat slots, advanced list organization, and premium stickers.
Looking ahead, Meta is preparing to launch a broader ecosystem under the Meta One brand. This initiative will expand to include professional packages for creators and businesses, as well as AI-focused tiers for general users. Meta AI will remain free for the public; however, the new premium AI plans aim to support users who require more intensive computational tasks.
The upcoming AI subscriptions include Meta One Plus at US$ 7.99 (Rp 142,382) and Meta One Premium at US$ 19.99 (Rp 356,222). While both offer similar features, the Premium tier unlocks higher computational capacity for complex reasoning, alongside enhanced video and image generation capabilities across Meta apps. These plans will eventually integrate features specifically for AI-powered glasses. Initial testing for the AI tiers will begin next month in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia.
For creators and businesses, Meta is introducing two additional tiers. The Meta One Essential plan, priced at US$ 14.99 (Rp 267,122), includes verified badges, identity protection, and an upgraded link-in-bio tool. The Meta One Advanced plan, at US$ 49.99 (Rp 890,822), builds on the Essential benefits by offering increased visibility on Facebook and Instagram feeds, priority placement in search results, a prominent “Follow” button on Reels, and automated follow invitations for users who interact with a creator’s content. These professional trials are scheduled to begin this week in markets including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand, and Bangladesh.
Summary
Meta is introducing new subscription tiers for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, separate from the existing Meta Verified service. These paid plans, such as Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus, offer advanced engagement tools, enhanced customization, and detailed analytics for power users and creators, while WhatsApp Plus focuses on personal app aesthetics and organization.
The company also plans to launch the Meta One ecosystem, featuring AI-focused subscriptions that provide higher computational power for complex tasks. Additionally, professional tiers like Meta One Essential and Advanced are being rolled out to assist businesses and creators with increased visibility, identity protection, and automated engagement features.
