The pre-dawn sky over Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD), Tangerang, remained steeped in darkness, streetlights still illuminating the quiet roads. It was against this serene backdrop that thousands of BFI Run 2026 half marathon participants surged from the starting line, located at Gate 10 of the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City. They began their journey, slowly conquering the silent route amidst the cool morning air, with many gradually picking up pace as they advanced.
On Sunday morning, May 24, 2026, PT BFI Finance Indonesia Tbk (BFI Finance) proudly hosted its annual running event once again. This year’s BFI Run achieved a remarkable new milestone, attracting an unprecedented 10,000 runners. This figure represents the largest turnout since the event’s inception in 2016, underscoring its growing popularity and impact within the running community.
The impressive roster of BFI RUN 2026 participants hailed from various corners of Indonesia and even internationally. The diverse crowd included passionate running communities, seasoned professional runners, and acclaimed national and international athletes. Prominent figures in the running world, such as Robi Syianturi, Eva Desiana, and Sivaneshwaran, added to the competitive spirit and excitement of the event.

Beyond the allure of podium prizes, participants in the half marathon (HM) category were presented with a compelling incentive: the opportunity to join the Overseas Marathon Challenge, which once again served as a major highlight of the BFI RUN. This exclusive program offers a chance for top performers to compete in two prestigious international marathons: the Sydney Marathon and the Yokohama Marathon, elevating the stakes and global appeal of the event.
Sudjono, Director of BFI Finance, attributed the decision to increase the participant quota to 10,000 this year to the overwhelming public enthusiasm. He emphasized the company’s commitment to continuously improving the event experience while prioritizing runner satisfaction.
“We deeply appreciate the consistently positive reception from runners and the community for the BFI RUN each year. This year, we expanded the quota to 10,000 participants—the highest number throughout the BFI RUN’s history since 2016—while steadfastly prioritizing the safety and comfort of all participants during the event,” Sudjono stated, highlighting the organizers’ dedication.
For the highly anticipated HM category, a total of eight participants who successfully completed the race in under two hours earned the coveted opportunity to compete in the Sydney Marathon on August 30, 2026. Additionally, twelve runners who finished the arduous course in under two hours and twenty minutes secured their spot in the Yokohama Marathon, scheduled for October 25, 2026, further motivating elite performance.
The BFI RUN 2026 featured three distinct race categories: the challenging half marathon, the popular 10K, and the accessible 5K. Tickets, which became available on December 12, 2025, were snapped up in record time, underscoring the immense public interest and the event’s reputation as a must-attend fixture on the running calendar.
From a technical standpoint, rigorous regulations were in place to ensure fair play and participant safety. HM category runners were required to complete the race within a maximum of three hours, 10K participants within one hour and 45 minutes, and 5K participants within one hour. Any runner exceeding these strict cut-off times (COT) faced disqualification, forfeiting their right to receive a finisher medal and, for the HM category, a finisher jersey.
Beyond the competitive aspect, a significant draw of the BFI RUN is its thoughtfully designed, runner-friendly route. Characterized by sterile pathways and relatively minimal elevation, the course offers a challenging yet accessible experience for all. Working in close collaboration with professional race management experts, RunID, the event ensured that the start and finish lines at ICE BSD City were supported by comprehensive facilities, including ample hydration points, isotonic drinks, mineral water, and dedicated recovery areas for participants.
