The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Agency, known as Danantara, officially announced on Friday (May 22) the 85 entities that have successfully qualified for the second wave of the Selected Provider List (DPT) for Indonesia’s waste-to-energy (WtE) projects. These projects are being managed through the national sovereign wealth fund’s subsidiary, Danantara Investment Management (DIM).
The qualified participants are now positioned as potential partners for the development and operation of Environmentally Friendly Technology-Based Waste Processing into Electrical Energy (PSEL) facilities. This initiative is a cornerstone of Indonesia’s strategy to transform urban waste into a sustainable energy source.
Several prominent companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) have secured their positions on this prestigious list. These include PT Maharaksa Biru Energi Tbk (OASA), PT Daaz Bara Lestari Tbk (DAAZ), PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MEDC), and PT Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur Tbk (BIPI).
This second-wave selection follows an initial phase that targeted projects in the Bekasi City, Greater Bogor, and Greater Denpasar regions. The surge in interest has been remarkable, with the number of participants jumping from 24 entities in the first wave to 85 in the second. The list features a mix of new corporations, fresh consortia, and returning participants who are reaffirming their commitment to the sector.
Fadli Rahman, CEO of PT Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara (Denera), emphasized that the growing number of domestic and international participants reflects the robust investment appeal of the PSEL program.
“We remain fully committed to ensuring that the partner selection process for PSEL is conducted with the highest levels of transparency and competitiveness. Our goal is to secure partners capable of supporting integrated waste management systems that can effectively address Indonesia’s waste emergency,” Fadli stated in an official release.
Moving forward, DIM will issue Terms of Reference (ToR) to the participants who passed the DPT BUPP PSEL selection. Specific details regarding the schedule and procedures for the upcoming phases will be provided in separate communications.
The selection results reveal strategic partnerships among key industry players. DAAZ is participating through two separate groups: the Daaz Jinjiang Green Energy Consortium (alongside PT Perkasa Eka Cipta Investama and PT Jinjiang Environment Indonesia) and the ZNJJ Daaz Green Energy Consortium.
Meanwhile, MEDC is part of the Sinergi Mitra Citra Consortium, a high-powered collaboration featuring Samsung E&A, China TianYing, and PT Medco Power Indonesia. OASA has joined the Grandblue Maharaksa Consortium, partnering with Grandblue and PT Indoplas Dewata Energi.
Representing the Bakrie Group, BIPI is involved through the Mentari Citra Lestari Consortium, which includes PT Bakrie Power, PT Acritas Karya Persada, and SUS Indonesia Holding Limited. This follows a major move by the Bakrie Group’s investment arm, PT Bakrie Capital Indonesia (BCI), which recently acquired 3.82 billion shares of BIPI. According to ownership reports, BCI purchased these shares at Rp 248 on February 24, 2026, for investment purposes, bringing its total stake in BIPI to 6%.
