IHSG Rises 0.3% Led by Gold Stocks EMAS, MDKA, and PSAB

 

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) staged a notable rebound during the first trading session on Friday (May 22), rising 0.30% or 18.50 points to reach 6,113. The market showed resilience, recovering from an intraday low of 5,976 at the morning’s opening bell.

According to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the trading volume for the morning session reached 19.94 billion shares, with a frequency of 1.14 million transactions. The market capitalization stood at IDR 10,593 trillion, supported by a total transaction value of IDR 10.17 trillion.

Market breadth remained competitive, with 332 stocks closing higher, 350 declining, and 135 remaining unchanged. Overall, six out of the eleven sectors on the IDX finished in the green, led by the basic industry sector, which saw a robust gain of 3.78%.

Gold-related stocks were a major highlight during the session. Shares of PT Merdeka Gold Resources Tbk (EMAS) surged 18.44% to IDR 7,225, followed by PT J Resources Asia Pacific Tbk (PSAB), which climbed 13.44% to IDR 422, and PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS), which rose 6.19% to IDR 600.

Meanwhile, several stocks associated with conglomerate Prajogo Pangestu also turned positive. PT Barito Pacific Tbk (BRPT) grew 4.58% to IDR 1,600, PT Petrosea Tbk (PTRO) gained 6.65% to IDR 3,690, and PT Chandra Daya Investasi Tbk (CDIA) increased 2.13% to IDR 720. Conversely, PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA) struggled with an 11.45% decline to IDR 2,010, while PT Petrindo Jaya Kreasi Tbk (CUAN) dropped 8.41% to IDR 490.

In terms of trading activity, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) emerged as the most sought-after stock, recording a transaction value of IDR 945.24 billion. It was followed by PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) with IDR 539.66 billion and PT Barito Pacific Tbk (BRPT) with IDR 484.75 billion.

The positive momentum was mirrored across Asian markets. The Hang Seng Index grew 1.22% to 25,696, the Japanese Nikkei 225 surged 2.58% to 63,276.26, and the Shanghai Composite rose 0.47% to 4,096.24.
