Amidst the accelerating growth of the green economy, non-profit organizations Green Jobs Seasoldier and Koaksi Indonesia have launched the Green Jobs Fest 2026. This impactful festival is taking place across Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya throughout April, featuring a series of engaging activities. Among the key highlights is a dynamic workshop aptly titled “Draw Your Future Green Career.”
The “Draw Your Future Green Career” workshop, expertly facilitated by the non-profit Green Jobs Career Indonesia (GJCI), brings together professionals from a diverse array of backgrounds. This curated gathering is designed to offer participants a significantly broader perspective on the burgeoning landscape of green jobs—or eco-friendly employment—within Indonesia’s expanding sustainable sector.
Beyond insightful discussions, the festival also includes a unique session where attendees are guided to map their individual skills to various emerging green industries. “This workshop aims to provide crucial information about sustainable careers while helping participants align their capabilities with the existing industrial landscape through an innovative method: creating a zine,” explained Azizah Zurinada, Founder of GJCI, in a press statement issued on Tuesday, April 28. “This approach ensures the activity is both more fun and interactive.”
To clarify the scope of this vital sector, the International Labour Organization (ILO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, defines green jobs as diverse roles focused on protecting ecosystems, enhancing energy efficiency, minimizing waste, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting adaptation to climate change.
The potential for green jobs in Indonesia is substantial. According to estimates from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the development of renewable energy power plants alone—as outlined in PLN’s Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) for 2025-2030—could generate an impressive 760,000 new sustainable employment opportunities.
Ultimately, GJCI expresses its strong hope that this collaborative festival will empower and encourage more young people to confidently embark on their own green career journeys, contributing to a more sustainable future for Indonesia.
