The Government of Yogyakarta Will Limit the Number of Tourists Entering Jalan Malioboro – The Yogyakarta City Government limits the number of tourists on Jalan Malioboro during the year-end holidays. The Yogyakarta City Transportation Service, the Yogyakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and Jogoboro personnel have been alerted so that tourists in Malioboro do not overflow.
“If there are 500 in a zone, it will be stopped (halau),” said Deputy Mayor of Yogyakarta Heroe Poerwadi when contacted, Sunday (27/12/2020). For info, there are five zones within the Malioboro territory.
In order to limit the number of people around the recreation area to no more than the specified limit, each tourist is required to scan a QR Code. "If it is full, a notification will appear later, then Jogoboro will prevent tourists from entering each zone. Jogoboro will not only warn smokers to enter," said Heroe.
Besides that, the Yogyakarta City Government also does not allow tourists who do not wear masks to enter Malioboro. "Our job in the area is to ensure their safety, by spraying, carrying out health procedures, that is our job to make it safe in Yogyakarta. Except for saving the community, saving travelers," he said.
Furthermore, Heroe said, the Yogyakarta City Government had screened arriving travelers. "The other day, we screened colleagues who took care of them before going on holiday, Nataru. Later I think that after the Nataru holidays, we will also be screened. Screening requires conditions that need to be fulfilled," he said.
