Quartararo asked to be more consistent to replace Valentino Rossi at Yamaha – The living legend of MotoGP, Kevin Schwantz, asked Fabio Quartararo to improve his performance next season. He hopes that Quartararo will live up to the expectations of the Yamaha factory team's options, who are willing to displace Valentino Rossi from the factory team.
It is known that Quartararo will replace Valentino Rossi's role in the Yamaha factory team. Quartararo could partner Maverick Vinales after signing a contract in early 2020.
Unfortunately, Quartararo is now in doubt about his performance after undergoing the 2020 MotoGP season. Even though he had an excellent start to the season, Quartararo then had stability problems.
Initially, Quartararo was also predicted to be able to come out as MotoGP world champion this season. The problem is that the 21-year-old rider successfully won the first two races in a row when he appeared at the Jerez Circuit, Spain.
Even in several races, he appeared stable enough to remain at the top of the standings. This was later supported by the absence of Marc Marquez due to chronic injuries.
However, nearing the end of the season, Quartararo's performance was declining. He seems to have difficulty breaking into top-class competition. This happened after he won the race at the 2020 Catalunya MotoGP.
Therefore, Schwantz hopes that Quartararo meets the expectations of Yamaha's options. What's more, Quartararo experienced this situation when he was in Moto2, where stability problems occurred in the 2018 season.
“He (Quartararo) has experienced that in Moto2. It has to be more stable,” said Schwantz, quoting from Speedweek, Monday (21/12/2020).
"It's impossible that at the end of the week, he couldn't be bothered to sue and never lost, but then he went to 14th or 15th place," added the man with the United States passport.
"He has shown this trend in the past, but I believe the Yamaha factory team will take a closer look to see how they can be stabilized," he said.
