UFC Awaits the Return of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Jon Jones
UFC Awaits the Return of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Jon Jones – UFC President Dana White says Jon Jones is ready to return for next year's promo. The former light heavyweight king has not stepped foot in the Octagon since his unanimous decision win over Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in February.
Jones' absence from the octagon was partly due to conflicts with UFC officials over his long-awaited move to Heavyweight. Tomorrow's Hall-of-Famer – who vacated his winning crown in June – wants to be given the ideal compensation for weight gain.
White, however, refused to budge and conceded the 33-year-old wanted to be paid an equal amount. The two factions recently discussed their woes in a phone call, which led White to believe 'Bones' would return to the Octagon next year.
He explained to BT Sport: ”Jon Jones and I had the greatest conversation we've ever had about a week ago, and he's ready to come back. His head is in the right place, and he and I are in a very good place.”
The UFC hopes to face Jones against Israeli middleweight champion Adesanya. With a note, the latter can win the proposed Light Heavyweight title battle against Jan Blachowicz.
White really wanted to make a battle and confessed that it was one of the contests he most wanted to do next year. He spoke: “That is the battle I want to see. Someone asked me the other day, 'if you could make one battle in 2021, what would it be?' That's my option. ”
Except for Jones, White is waiting for the return of UFC Lightweight King Khabib Nurmagomedov. White and Khabib will meet to discuss the plans for the Eagle's return to the octagon next year. The idea was that Khabib and White met during Conor McGregor's battle against Dustin Poirier. The rematch will be held January 23 in Abu Dhabi.
