Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson Unanimous Win at UFC Vegas 17
Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson Unanimous Win at UFC Vegas 17 – Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson won on absolute points over Geoff Neal in the UFC Vegas 17 battle which took place at UFC Apex, Las Vegas, Sunday (20/12) afternoon WIB.
In the first round, the battle was slow, both Thompson and Neal looked wary of attacking. The referee stopped the match at the end of the first round after the two fighters clashed heads.
Thompson is still in control of the 2nd round. The 37-year-old fighter's footwork and combined punches made it difficult for Neal. The 3rd round was even after a few Neal shots came in.
After the 4th round went unenthusiastic, both Thompson and Neal tried to appear aggressive at the start of the 5th round. However, the stamina of the 2 fighters that had dropped made the battle resume at a low tempo.
The punch left Thompson bleeding profusely from his right temple, the aftermath of a clash of heads in the first round.
Neal's last effort was unable to make it apart from a heavy loss to Thompson. The judges ultimately gave Neal a 50-45, 50-45, and 50-45 lead.
In another battle, former UFC featherweight world champion Jose Aldo won on unanimous points over Marlon Vera. Aldo won 29-28, 29-28, and 29-28 over Vera.
UFC Las Vegas 17 will be the final UFC fight in 2020. Then the UFC will hold the UFC Fight Night battle: Holloway versus Kattar on January 16, 2021.
