Rancak Media — Rising global geopolitical uncertainty, spurred by tensions between the U.S., Israel, and Iran, has sent ripples across Gulf nations and triggered financial market volatility. In this climate, digital asset investors are increasingly seeking more diverse and flexible investment instruments to hedge against instability.
Against this backdrop, the trend of tokenized assets—or Real-World Assets (RWA)—is experiencing significant growth, a surge clearly visible within the Indonesian market. Leading crypto exchange Pintu has reported a marked increase in trading activity for these assets over the past several months.
This shift in investor behavior indicates that crypto enthusiasts are moving beyond traditional Bitcoin or altcoin speculation. Instead, they are increasingly gravitating toward digital assets backed by global stocks, ETFs, and precious metals.
Iskandar Mohammad, Head of Product Marketing at PINTU, confirmed that transaction volume for tokenized assets on their platform saw a steady climb throughout April 2026. “Transaction volume for tokenized assets on PINTU has shown consistently positive growth. In April 2026, the cumulative number of users rose by 9.49 percent compared to March 2026, while the average transaction value per user surged by 87.32 percent,” Iskandar stated.
He noted that the five most actively traded tokenized assets during April 2026 spanned the technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and precious metals sectors. The list includes the iShares Silver Trust (SLVON), Apple (AAPLX), Palantir Technologies (PLTRON), Tesla (TSLAX), and Alibaba Group (BABAON).
This trend is not isolated to Indonesia; it is a global phenomenon. According to data from RWA.xyz as of May 12, 2026, the global market capitalization for tokenized assets grew by 5.38 percent in the previous 30 days, reaching approximately USD 32.18 billion (roughly IDR 563 trillion). This growth underscores a sustained investor appetite for digital assets backed by tangible, real-world instruments during periods of economic volatility.
In Indonesia, this sector is also catching the eye of regulators. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has reportedly expressed openness toward blockchain and cryptography, recognizing their potential to make global investment opportunities more accessible and affordable for the general public.
According to Iskandar, diversification is the primary driver behind this interest. Investors can now gain exposure to various global industrial sectors without ever needing to leave the crypto ecosystem. To support this demand, Pintu has already listed 48 tokenized assets. These span a wide range of industries, including AI, semiconductors, e-commerce, financial services, consumer goods, healthcare, energy, telecommunications, and investment vehicles like ETFs and digital gold.
The platform’s offerings currently include global corporate giants such as Alphabet, Meta Platforms, NVIDIA, Microsoft, Amazon, JPMorgan Chase & Co, and various U.S. government bond instruments.
However, despite the increased accessibility and flexibility, the rise of tokenized assets brings new challenges regarding investor literacy and trust. With crypto markets remaining highly sensitive to geopolitical shifts, interest rate policies, and international regulations, Iskandar emphasized the importance of caution.
He warned that tokenization is not risk-free and urged investors to thoroughly understand the nature of these products while maintaining disciplined risk management. “Tokenization allows crypto investors to build a diversified global portfolio within the crypto ecosystem, offering an investment experience that is flexible, transparent, and accessible 24/7. Nevertheless, it is vital for investors to conduct thorough research and apply sound risk management so that their investment decisions align with their long-term financial goals,” he concluded.
