Rancak Media JAKARTA — Renowned investor Lo Kheng Hong is strategically preparing his stock investment moves for 2026, often referred to as the Fire Horse Year. Investors are keen to know which stocks will find a place in Lo Kheng Hong’s portfolio next year.
Lo Kheng Hong indicates that several key sentiments are likely to drive the Indonesian stock market in 2026. Among these significant factors is the ongoing trend of central bank benchmark interest rate reductions, which historically tend to stimulate market growth.
Bank Indonesia (BI) has already lowered its benchmark interest rate five times this year, bringing it down to 4.75%. This current rate is the lowest since October 2022, and analysts suggest that BI still has room for further rate cuts in the coming year, potentially creating a more favorable investment climate.
In line with these anticipated interest rate decreases, Lo Kheng Hong sees a compelling opportunity for investing in the banking sector in 2026. He expresses a particular fondness for this sector, anticipating robust performance.
“I have plans to buy [stocks]. I typically favor the banking sector,” Lo remarked during the BIG 40 Award event held on Monday, December 8, 2025, in Jakarta, where his insights were highly anticipated.

Within the banking sector, Lo Kheng Hong is specifically targeting shares of state-owned banks, often referred to as Himbara banks, such as PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk. (BBRI) and PT Bank Mandiri Tbk. (BMRI). He believes these Himbara stocks have been significantly buoyed by government stimulus and liquidity assistance, positioning them for continued growth.
Beyond banking, Lo Kheng Hong also identifies the mining and palm oil sectors as promising investment avenues for 2026. Furthermore, he emphasizes that stocks offering high dividend payouts are also a primary target, aligning with his value-oriented investment philosophy.
“For instance, Bank Mandiri’s dividend yield could reach 9%, and Bank Rakyat Indonesia’s dividend yield might be around 8%. These figures are more than double the typical bank interest rates. If a bank deposit offers 5%, after tax, it’s merely 4%. But with an 8% dividend yield, it’s significantly higher and more attractive,” Lo explained, highlighting the superior returns from dividends.
As of the close of this year, Lo Kheng Hong prominently features on the list of major shareholders in several Indonesian issuers. Known for his calculated approach, Lo has consistently demonstrated active maneuvering in his stock investments, optimizing his portfolio for long-term gains.
In the palm oil plantation sector, Lo Kheng Hong stands as the largest individual investor in Salim Group’s issuer, PT Salim Ivomas Pratama Tbk. (SIMP). Data from PT Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (KSEI) reveals that Lo Kheng Hong holds 779.20 million shares of SIMP, equivalent to a 5.03% ownership stake.
Similarly, Lo Kheng Hong is recognized as the largest individual investor in coal issuer PT ABM Investama Tbk. (ABMM). KSEI data indicates his significant holding of 154.01 million ABMM shares, representing a 5.59% ownership, underscoring his confidence in the energy sector.
Moreover, Lo Kheng Hong maintains a substantial portfolio in the property sector, with a notable stake in PT Intiland Development Tbk. (DILD). He holds 691.51 million DILD shares, which translates to a commanding 6.67% ownership in the company.
Beyond these, Lo Kheng Hong is also listed among the major shareholders—with ownership exceeding 5%—for PT Global Mediacom Tbk. (BMTR) and PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk. (GJTL). His holdings stood at 5.76% in GJTL and 6.44% in BMTR at the close of the third quarter of 2025, demonstrating a diversified presence across various industries.
In addition to these jumbo stock portfolios, Lo Kheng Hong also holds stakes in a series of other issuers, albeit below the 5% threshold, such as PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk. (BDMN). Most recently, Lo Kheng Hong increased his ownership in BDMN to 26.10 million shares, equivalent to 0.26%, securing his position as the fifth-largest shareholder in Bank Danamon Indonesia, reflecting his continued interest in the banking landscape.
