Jakarta — PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) has been honored with the prestigious GeoInnovation Award 2025 in the Sustainability Impact category, presented by the Environmental Systems Research Institute (Esri) Indonesia. This recognition underscores PTFI’s commitment to pioneering advancements in sustainable practices within the mining sector.

Ronald Adrianta, a representative of the GeoInnovation Award 2025 Jury Board, commended PTFI following the award ceremony in Jakarta on Thursday, December 4, 2025. “Freeport stands out as a pioneer in integrating geospatial technology into employee safety protocols. This innovative approach is rarely adopted across the industry and serves as an inspiring example for fostering more responsible operational practices,” Adrianta stated, highlighting the uniqueness of PTFI’s initiative.

Ardhin Yuniar, Senior Vice President Geoengineering & Environmental at PTFI, further elaborated on the strategic significance of this innovation. He explained that advanced geospatial technology solutions are vital for achieving both operational efficiency and robust sustainable mining governance. Crucially, PTFI’s noise monitoring zones can now be visualized in real-time through a sophisticated digital dashboard. This advanced system replaces previous manual survey methods, which were considerably more time-consuming and resource-intensive, marking a significant leap in operational efficiency and worker safety management.
