Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), announced that the government has commenced dispatching crucial logistical aid and actively rescuing victims of the devastating flash floods across Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra. This immediate and robust response stands as the government’s primary focus during the critical disaster emergency phase.
Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, AHY stated, “We prioritize the immediate rescue of lives, followed by crucial medical evacuations and the swift delivery of logistics, as numerous vital routes have been cut off.” This statement was made following his address at the Conference on Indonesian Foreign Policy (CIFP) 2025 at Kasablanka Hall, Jakarta, on Saturday (29/11).
Furthermore, the government is deploying heavy equipment, coordinated by the Ministry of Public Works, to aid in victim evacuation and clear pathways in areas severely affected by both landslides and floods. AHY also confirmed the government’s commitment to promptly repair the extensive infrastructure damage caused by these natural disasters.
President Prabowo Subianto is also closely monitoring the unfolding situation in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra, AHY noted. Across the numerous paralyzed districts and cities, countless landslide points and critical locations are experiencing severed communication and logistics routes, exacerbating the crisis.

AHY further elaborated on the phased approach, stating, “The initial stage focuses entirely on disaster emergency response. We are swiftly evacuating residents from hazardous areas. Following this critical phase, we will meticulously map out all the disconnected points, understanding that the challenging conditions will not allow for immediate infrastructure development.”
Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto affirmed that the government had acted swiftly to dispatch aid since the very onset of the flash floods and landslides in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra.
To bolster these efforts, the government deployed three Hercules C-130 aircraft and one A-400 aircraft from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Friday morning (28/11), carrying essential relief supplies.
President Prabowo highlighted that aid has been dispatched via both land and air routes. However, he acknowledged the immense challenges on the ground, where numerous access roads remain severed and critical infrastructure has been severely damaged. Helicopters and aid aircraft are encountering difficulties landing in several isolated locations. Despite these formidable obstacles, Prabowo unequivocally assured that humanitarian assistance would continue to be delivered consistently to meet the pressing needs in the affected areas.
