The much-anticipated erafone Run 2025 concluded with resounding success, drawing the enthusiastic participation of thousands of runners. This year, the annual sporting event introduced an innovative concept: the Sunset Run, offering participants a unique experience of running while soaking in the breathtaking panorama of the sunset at Laguna View, Bantul. A remarkable 4,000 runners graced the event, which took place on November 22, 2025.
Beyond being a platform for sports and entertainment, this edition of the erafone Run significantly amplified its commitment to sustainability through the impactful “erafone Jaga Bumi” (erafone Protect Earth) campaign. All participants were actively encouraged to donate their unwanted electronic waste (e-waste), including old mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and even gadget accessories. This collected e-waste was deposited into dedicated dropboxes and subsequently processed by certified recycling partners, ensuring adherence to stringent safety standards.
The e-waste collection initiative commenced during the Race Pack Collection sessions held from November 19–21, 2025, at Plaza Ambarrukmo, and continued throughout the main event day. As a token of appreciation for their environmental contribution, participants who donated electronic devices received an exclusive erafone Run 2025 keychain, crafted entirely from 100% recycled materials.
Further underscoring its sustainable mission, the event also featured a range of collaborative programs. These included a vibrant local Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSME) festival and a compelling Green Auction, where products made from recycled plastic waste were put up for bidding. All proceeds generated from this auction are earmarked to support future erafone sustainability programs, including vital environmental conservation efforts, showcasing a holistic approach to eco-responsibility.
“Through erafone Run 2025, our goal was not merely to deliver an enjoyable sporting experience, but also to convey the powerful message that every small step can create a significant impact on our planet. The Sunset Run was specifically chosen to offer a distinct ambiance compared to previous years, while the erafone Jaga Bumi campaign stands as a tangible testament to our unwavering commitment to sustainability,” stated Ronald Suryadinata, Head of Region, Erajaya Digital, in his official remarks.
In addition to the main running event, attendees were treated to live musical performances by the popular band Shaggydog and had the opportunity to explore a diverse MSME culinary festival, celebrating and promoting local creative products.
Environmental Impact of the “erafone Jaga Bumi” Campaign
The e-waste collection program at erafone Run 2025 achieved several remarkable milestones:
- Nearly 1,000 units of electronic waste collected, diverting them from landfills.
- Achieved energy savings equivalent to 121,600 kWh.
- Reduced carbon emissions by 50,715 kg CO₂e, an amount comparable to the annual carbon absorption of 2,305 adult trees.
- Prevented 10 m³ of e-waste from entering landfills.
- Utilized 15 kg of recycled plastic for event merchandise and auction products, promoting circular economy principles.
By synergizing sports, environmental education, and local economic empowerment, the erafone Run 2025 is poised to become an annual agenda that not only promotes health and enjoyment but also delivers a profound and lasting positive impact on both the planet and its communities.
