Kasikornbank (KBank) has solidified its strategic footprint in Indonesia by officially increasing its share ownership in PT Bank Maspion Indonesia Tbk. (BMAS) to a commanding 89.48%. This substantial move underscores KBank’s unwavering commitment to expanding its regional business network and strengthening its position as a leading financial institution across Southeast Asia.
KBank identifies Indonesia as a critical and highly strategic market within the ASEAN region. With a robust economy boasting a gross domestic product (GDP) exceeding US$1.4 trillion and a massive population of approximately 285 million, over 70% of whom are of productive age, Indonesia presents a formidable economic foundation. This favorable landscape is further bolstered by a significant inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI), reaching Rp208 trillion or approximately US$12.5 billion, driven by strong domestic consumption, ongoing infrastructure development, and a government committed to long-term pro-investment policies.
“The increase in KBank’s ownership in Bank Maspion to 89.48% clearly reflects KBank’s strategic vision to penetrate high-potential economic markets,” stated Kasemsri Charoensiddhi, President Director of Bank Maspion Indonesia. He emphasized that through sustained investment and collaborative efforts, KBank is empowering Bank Maspion to deliver integrated financial solutions to prospective corporate clients, particularly those actively involved in cross-border trade and investment across the dynamic AEC+3 region.
This increased stake follows a pivotal transaction on September 11, 2025, when KBank acquired 983.73 million shares of BMAS. This acquisition represented 5.43% of the total shares at a price of Rp500 per share, amounting to a transaction value of Rp491.8 billion.
Underpinning its ambitious “A Regional Bank of Choice” strategy, KBank is sharply focused on serving corporate and commercial customers in both Thailand and Indonesia. In line with this vision, Bank Maspion is currently undergoing significant development, integrating a diverse range of financial products and services. This transformation is being achieved through the adoption of KBank’s advanced technology, comprehensive knowledge, and innovative product structures.
These enhanced services encompass vital areas such as business financing, sophisticated cash management solutions, seamless cross-border transactions, efficient supply chain financing, robust trade finance mechanisms, and flexible loan syndication options, all meticulously tailored to meet the evolving needs of regional businesses.
Crucially, KBank is also implementing a strategic partnership approach by leveraging its extensive AEC+3 network, which spans ASEAN nations, along with China, Japan, and South Korea. This network is designed to cultivate a highly interconnected cross-border financial ecosystem. Through this expansive framework, customers from Thailand and the broader AEC+3 region can effortlessly access banking services in Indonesia, while Indonesian customers gain unprecedented opportunities to expand their businesses into key markets such as Thailand, China, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
