Travel Entrepreneur Strategies to Survive the COVID-19 Pandemic – TX Travel travel agent businessman Anton Thedy tells how he managed to survive starting his business during the outbreak period.

It is known that travel and tourism businesses have been seriously affected by the Covid-19 outbreak which has been running for more than nine months in Indonesia.

Responding to the impact of Covid-19, Anton did not remain silent and also fell into the economic downturn. However, he chose to implement a complete overhaul of his office.

First, he explained that his office had invited people to change their recreational activities from group tours to road trips.

"Since July, when we were able to open the office, we completely replaced it. For example, a group, the name of the group is of course clustered together, there are two to 6 people combined to travel together. It's an old routine. "New routine, we change the meaning, traveling is not a tour group but a road trip," said Anton in a virtual dialogue with the theme "Applying Health Procedures Ahead of the End of Year Holidays" Tuesday (15/12/2020).

Anton explained that a road trip is a term for travelers who travel using individual vehicles.

On a road trip holiday, he said, travelers are not grouped together in the same vehicle. In a vehicle, generally there are people they know or family.

“Well, they get in their own vehicles, then join in one direction for recreation. I take an example, we held it in Tanjung Lesung, as soon as we entered, all the routines were in one place there. "The physical distancing problem can definitely be done because of the large space," he said.

Second, Anton has changed the pattern for ordering tickets to be served online. He explained that since July his business unit would not allow people or guests to come to his office to order travel tickets.

“We are not allowing guests to arrive at this time, for what reason? Because everything can now be done without needing to arrive. "Order tickets, book hotels, send documents, all now you don't need to come back, you can do it online," he explained.

In fact, before Covid-19 spread, all guests would come to the office to order travel tickets.

In fact, Anton said, previously every day 100 people would come to his office. Now, he does not allow guests to come to the office to place orders.

"Currently they order using programs like WhatsApp, or chat with us," he explained.
