Spotify Application Released Greenroom. Spotify announced the presence of Greenroom, a new competitor in the category of streaming voice chat applications such as Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces. Even though Greenroom is branded as Spotify, it is a separate app.

Greenroom works with a similar concept as Twitter Spaces and Clubhouse. A user creates a pure audio space where the audience can listen and participate. The room creator can set whether he speaks to one person or only to certain people.

Spotify positions Greenroom as a way to connect with people to join in the conversation.

Spotify Application Released Greenroom

Spotify Greenroom is a live audio application that allows users to host live audio rooms about various things. Currently, the Spotify Greenroom application is available on the Android and iOS platforms.

Greenroom uses music, sports, and culture as dialogue topics, but it seems users can give it room for any topic. Both iOS and Android users can now grab the Greenroom app and log in with a Spotify account.

Some Live Interactive Audio Features in Greenroom

At Spotify, we're constantly improving and innovating future audio patterns to enable content creators and their fans to connect in new ways.

When we announced the acquisition of Betty Labs, creators of Locker Room, in March, we identified the positioning of live audio as part of the Spotify ecosystem. This provides another opportunity for creators of all types to connect with their fans in a deeper and more meaningful way.

Since introducing the Locker Room app, we've worked to expand its capabilities, with the goal of creating live audio experiences that will delight creators and listeners everywhere.

And we want to do it with a Spotify twist that operates as an extension of the app already loved by 356 million listeners.

That's why we say “Spotify Greenroom,” as our founder and CEO, Daniel Ek, published in an episode of the Spotify podcast, For the Record.

Today we're making Spotify Greenroom available for the first time in its new form, available on iOS and Android in more than 135 markets worldwide.

We built Greenroom with the creators and artists who make spotify great in mind, optimizing interactivity and deep connections between participants in live rooms. Applications launched today, Include:

New app branding (aka Greenroom) and overall new look and feel
The ability for any user to host or participate in a live room.

How to Join Greenroom:

  1. Join the group
  2. Look for upcoming spaces
  3. Join a room
  4. And even make a room

We believe Spotify has the ability not just to activate it live streaming, but also helps discovery, increases consumption, and directly accelerates the development of the group as a whole.

Today's app launch is our opportunity to lay the groundwork for the list of great content and features that Spotify brings to our company with live audio.
