More precisely, students are allowed to take a two-semester program for off-campus activities. There are many options available, such as internships, self-study, community service, and international exchange programs.

Students are encouraged to be more flexible in exploring their strengths and interests. Especially with the rapidly changing social, cultural, technical and world of work conditions. Students' abilities and interests can be kept updated with current events by using such programs.

The purpose of the Vocational Freedom Campus

The objectives of the vocational independent campus program include the following:

  1. Strengthen the practical and non-cognitive abilities of recent college graduates.
  2. Educating students to become future leaders with a strong sense of self-worth and charisma.
  3. Assisting students in realizing their full potential based on their unique interests and abilities is key.

Program at the Vocational Freedom Campus

According to the official handbook, the vocational independence campus now provides 8 types of programs that you can choose to join:

Student Exchange Vocational Freedom Campus

Student exchange is one of the activities that can be carried out in the Merdeka Campus program. Unlike other student exchange programs, Merdeka Campus makes it easy for students to transfer credit earned from the exchange destination campus to their home campus.

As a result of this arrangement, student exchange students do not need to worry or feel that their efforts are in vain because of this. In addition, most exchange students have to take the same classes again on campus, which makes the study period long. longer.

In addition, this program is not limited to one field of study. Merdeka Campus promotes various student exchanges, including the following:

  1. Cross-program student studies within the same institution.
  2. Exchange students enrolled in the same study program at different institutions.
  3. Student exchange between study programs at different institutions.
  4. The Indonesia International Student Mobility Awards is a student exchange program at several universities outside Indonesia.

Internship or Work Practice

Most internships and work experiences are limited to a period of three to six months. Students rarely have a thorough understanding of the sector in which they intern for such a short time.

In addition, to gain industry-appropriate experience and competence. Short apprenticeships are also a nuisance to many employers, as many of them acknowledge.

The amount of work required to teach something to students does not keep pace with what they are learning. For this reason, the Merdeka Campus holds an internship program for 1-2 semesters.

So, students can get the knowledge and experience they need in their area of interest. Students who excel in their internship have the opportunity to be employed by their host company.

Teaching Assistance in Education Units or Teaching Campuses

Students can make a difference in Indonesian education by participating in the Merdeka Campus program.

At different levels of education, students will be asked to assume the role of partner professor or lecturer. Starting from elementary, middle, and high school. Teaching can now be done anywhere, both in the heart of the city and in the countryside.

These are not old lesson plans. Students are required to be able to assist in conveying information related to technical improvements. Thus, primary and secondary schools can stay relevant and up-to-date.

Research or Research Vocational Independent Campus

In addition to the above programs, the Merdeka Campus also continues to sponsor academic activities. Evidence comes in the form of possibilities for studies of this kind.

For this one program, students must attend the study program first. From there, students can conduct independent research or become research assistants within 1-2 semesters.

It doesn't just end with data acquisition. The support and evaluation given to students in this program will never end. Until finally the research was tested like a final assignment trial.

Humanity Project

Usually humanitarian operations are carried out accidentally when a natural disaster occurs in an area. So, the implementation time is not too long.

As a result, the Merdeka Campus program now offers humanitarian projects as an alternative. With this program, you can be involved in various initiatives through humanitarian organizations.

Starting from the local level, such as PMI, BNPB, and BPBD, to the international level, such as UNICEF, UNHCR, UNESCO, etc.

Students must first choose the desired humanitarian organization before joining the Merdeka Campus program. After that, students are free to put forward their own ideas for extracurricular activities and operate them for the next 1-2 semesters.

Another option is for students to take part in disaster response activities that directly help the community.

Entrepreneurial Activities

Students who are interested in becoming entrepreneurs are also assisted by the Independent Campus program. Students must first register and make an entrepreneurial plan to take part in this program (which can be done independently or in groups).

The idea will then be evaluated by the program, and a course will be created based on the idea. After that, a supervisor and a mentor are selected by the study program.

After getting a mentor, students can manage a company for 1-2 semesters. At the end of the program, students must make an entrepreneur report which will be used as a benchmark for credit assessment and recognition.

Independent Study or Project

As well as working with a study center, students can also conduct their own research. In the language of the Merdeka Campus, this program is called Independent Study.

Independent study is often undertaken by students wishing to enter their work or ideas into national and international contests. However, it is possible for students to take independent studies in several sectors.

To join this program, students must register for a course at KRS and present a study proposal. A panel of experts will then review and comment on this idea.

If passed, students can continue independent study for 1-2 semesters guided by an examining lecturer.

Independent Study or Project

Class attendance is mandatory for students who do not pass the exam. Still confused about what to do on your own study project? Our Bootcamp and Career Acceleration programs might interest you.

For this program, the organizers are more flexible. There are many alternatives to the KKNT that students can choose from:

  1. Students can apply for a program extension for 1 semester after participating in the conventional KKN program for 2 months.
  2. Universities work with partners to ensure that KKNT is implemented in a manner that is in accordance with the Village Medium Term Development Plan.
  3. KKNT Teaching Model in the Village: Emphasized for students of educational study programs besides that, students are expected to be able to divide their studies according to the study program they are studying.
  4. It is not only limited to what is taught in formal institutions like schools, there is also informal instruction.
  5. Free form Students can create their own KKN forms and programs using the KKN paradigm.
