Adidas Earns 316 Billion From NFT Sales Into the Metaverse

Rancakmedia.com – Adidas has finally joined the NFT scene. Friday (17/12) was the official debut of the company's 'Into the Metaverse' NFT collection. NFT subscribers will get access to a very exclusive original adidas fan club.

Each NFT is priced at 0.2 ETH. Currently this is equivalent to around Rp. 10 million. In just one day, the German company sold 29,620 NFTs and earned nearly USD 22 million (Rp 316 billion).

adidas designed NFT together with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punks Comics and GMoney. By purchasing an NFT, owners gain access to certain tangible things, such as t-shirts with blockchain addresses on them and adidas Bored Ape tracksuits, and digital experiences to follow.

“adidas is in the metaverse,” Tareq Nazlawy, adidas senior director of digital growth, tells The Verge.

As a result, we started looking at the weirdest things we could do in that area, and then started working with the communities we built through NFTs to figure out how we could present ourselves in the virtual world.

The company is providing 20,000 NFT in early access to people holding a special adidas Originals token, GMoney token, Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT, Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT, and Pixel Vault NFT. This is what makes adidas NFTs hard to come by because they are offered to a few people first.

This debut comes after several weeks of crypto and metaverse buzz from adidas. The company introduced a digital token last month, which will allow holders early access to NFT tokens.

And a few weeks ago, the company started tweeting about the metaverse. adidas has also purchased a Bored Ape Yacht dubbed Indigo Hertz to show their dedication.

It is not yet known whether adidas intends to provide additional NFTs. Because the website shows that the step "this is just the beginning".

Given that the initial batches sold out so fast and there was a lot of money for adidas in just a few hours. adidas looks set to compete with Nike, which recently bought a company that manufactures virtual shoes and NFTs.
